Our Charity of the Year Initiative

In 2020 we set up our Charity of the Year initiative where we choose a charity to pledge our support to for the year ahead. Each year our team takes part in various fundraising events to raise donations for our chosen charity to help give them as much support as possible to continue the amazing charitable work that they do.

Since 2020 we have worked with some amazing charities and we look forward to continuing this initiative in the years to come.

Charity of the Year 2023: The British Red Cross

Charity of the year 2023

We would like to announce that Language Insight has chosen the British Red Cross to be our Charity of the year 2023! The British Red Cross is a registered UK charity that was started over 150 years ago and helps millions of people in the UK and around the world get the support they need when a crisis strikes, such as the 2023 earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Throughout 2023 we will be fundraising for the British Red Cross to help support them as much as possible. For more information about the British Red Cross and the work they do, please visit their website here.

Below are some of the charities that we have worked with in previous years...

Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity

In 2022 we chose the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity to be our Charity of the Year. Our team fundraised over £1500 which went directly towards helping fund research to pioneer new treatments for children, provide the most up-to-date medical equipment, fund support services for children and their families, and support the essential rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital.

Marina Barnes, Head of Community Fundraising at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity said:

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Language Insight as their 2022 charity of the year, and can’t wait to hear about their ideas for fundraising to help support seriously ill children from across the UK who are treated at Great Ormond Street Hospital. We will be with them every step of the way with inspirational fundraising ideas and advice to help their teams raise as much as possible. Every penny really will make a huge difference to GOSH at a time the hospital needs the charity’s support more than ever, so I’d like to say a huge thank you to Language Insight for choosing us as their charity of the year partner for 2022!”

Cash for Kids

Cash for Kids was our Charity of the year for 2021. Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity helping the children that need it most across the UK. In 2021 Covid-19 continued to have a huge impact on our lives, with the whole country still in its third national lockdown. We decided that we wanted to support local families and children in poverty who may have suffered even more due to the effects of the pandemic.

Cash for Kids’ mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs. They believe that all children should be able to express their individuality, achieve their potential and live life to the full. Cash for Kids work with grass-roots organisations that aim to make a difference to young lives, directly supporting families who often have nowhere else to go.

Nikki Thompson, Charity Manager at Rock FM’s Cash For Kids welcomed Language Insight as a charity partner and stated “We are delighted to have gained the support of Language Insight so that we can continue to help the most vulnerable children in our community. We are really looking forward to working in partnership with the team and putting some fabulous fundraising plans in place.”

MIND

Throughout 2020 we fundraised for the MIND Charity who were our first ever Charity of the Year. In March 2020 the UK went into lockdown but that didn't stop us from doing our part to fundraise for MIND to help them with the amazing work they do for mental health awareness and support for those struggling. We were delighted to raise over £2000 for MIND throughout the year for a charity that is close to many of our hearts.

One of our fundraising events included 15 of our staff walking the distance from Land's End to John O'Groats  in 20 days. This meant they each had to do 5km every day for that 20 day period! Other than getting to raise money for a fantastic charity, many of our staff commented how the challenge gave them a sense of purpose whilst they were at home during lockdown and could only go out for their daily amount of exercise.  We actually created a YouTube video of the challenge back in 2020 which you can watch by clicking the button below!
